So my SIL is having a boy in May and I made her this quilt. Who loves Riley Blake fabric? I love Riley Blake fabric!! Especially this line..its All Stars 2 by "my Minds Eye" for Riley Blake If I could buy whole bolts of this line I would but its very hard to find now...Sad day but yay for finishing the quilt!

Hunter's Home birth story

My due date was April 16th and on April 3, 2011 Hunter made his way into the world fast just like his brothers.

We were at home watching General Conference online and during Pres. Monson's closing talk I had two really painful contractions but they were like 10 minutes apart and nothing happened after that. As soon as amen was said we started to get ready to go to Tyler's parents house for dinner. Something was going on so I kind of warned Tyler that he may need to call his parents to come get the kids and I started timing the contractions at 3:30pm and they were 2 minutes apart and they hurt, nothing huge but not comfortable. So Tyler called his parents and I called my midwife. I wasn't sure if this was going to be a false start, I thought it very well could be. My midwife's office is in another town a half hour away so I didn't want her to have to drive out with a student midwife and another midwife for nothing. She felt like it was time and that what she heard warranted a visit. In the mean time a friend of mine, Nikki had come over to keep the kids controlled with bribes of chocolate milk,other goodies and tv. Tyler's dad showed up and off the kids went to nana and papa's. We were waiting for the midwives and I decided that if Nikki wanted to stay great because she was an awesome distraction. Tyler basically curls up in a ball and goes to his happy place when I'm in labour and Nikki kept me from being bored.

Hahaha bored during labour, ever thought you'd see those words together? I didn't.

Anyway the midwive's got here, trucked in all their equipment (Holy suit cases batman!) and checked me, I was 6cm and they pushed it to 7.5cm so it was go time!

From there it was a waiting game, I had my exercise ball (best $5 I ever spent) and leaned on it and rolled my hips during contractions to get the most out of each one. I was chatting with Nikki, Tyler and the midwives and just chilling out between contractions, I had bought an mp3 download for hypnobirthing and it must have worked because I kept getting all these weird mantras popping in my head like "this is good pain", "your body needs to do this", everything you feel is normal" etc. That is NOT me at all. I was a hot mess screaming for drugs with my other two and here I was chatting and joking while in transition and being able to stay silent through each contraction. I also think because I had made peace with the fact that there wouldn't a drug anywhere close it helped me just get over my wimpiness.

Things progressed til it was time to "give 'er" and Hunter was born in three weak pushes and one good push. He was born at 5:48pm weighing 7lbs 3oz and 19.5 inches long.

It was all over in 2 hours and 20 minutes and even though it was 40 minutes longer than my last it seemed to pass by much quicker.

I would do a home birth again in a heart beat.

I have come to the realization that my panic with my other births in the hospital stemmed from the fact that we are taught from an early age that if we are in the hospital in pain then its a bad thing. I know now that every contraction I felt in my first two births scared me because I thought "this is bad" , "this is horrible and wrong, why cant I get relief?"

I am so thankful we have modern medicine to relieve and cure pain cause by disease but birth is not a pain to be numbed or a disease to be cured, it is to be experienced, felt and marveled at.

I wish it had not taken me to my last child to realize that.

A quote that was recently shared by a doula/student midwife I know sums it up perfectly,

"Birth isn't something we suffer, but something we actively do and exalt in"

Amen to that.

Monkeys in the bath

So yesterday afternoon I put Chase in the bath and let him play with his new birthday present ( a hot wheels bath toy) and I sat in there for a bit watching and then went to my room (beside the bathroom) to tidy up and put a few things away. The whole time I could hear him talking and playing so it wasn't like I was leaving him alone in a drowning situation ( for all you judgey judgersons ;))
Anyway a few minutes later he appears in the door way dripping wet and naked saying "monkey in the bath" ...of course I'm all confused but he keeps saying there's a monkey in the bath. Now we call him monkey so I thought maybe he is referring to himself so I said "well lets get get you monkey back in the bath" and off we went to the tub. A second later we're at the tub and Chase points to the water and says "monkey in the water"
The "monkey" he was referring to was a large bobbing log of poop floating just in the middle of the tub.
Awesomeness. I couldn't help but laugh and had to drain and wash everything and scoop the poop into the toilet to which Chase said "monkey in the potty"...yes Chase we put "monkeys in the potty"
For most of the day today he kept telling how he had a monkey poop...I have no idea where he came up with that!!??

So before I tell this story you need a bit of background info on Chase and me. So me with only 7 weeks left to pop, the only time I am comfortable even a little bit is in a hot bath. Chase likes neh loves to highjack my baths..all the time. I give in b/c if I dont I here bawling and banging on the door and that is NOT relaxing.

So yesterday I run my bath and of course a minute after I get in Chase is there stripping down to his but booty nakedness and jumping in. A few minutes later he pops up and looks at me and says pee in the potty...I sigh and struggle wanting to get up and set up the toilet b/c until now its been just him wanting to go through the motions but no pee. Well I didnt want to get up so I pulled him out and he walked over to the cabinet, got the toilet insert out, put in on and got the stool, climbed up and peed!!?? Seriously buddy?? Hes only going to be 2 in March. Keiran didnt potty train til he was almost 3 so I was shocked to say the least. I by no means am ready to full on train and I dont think Chase is either but we may start progressive training before baths, bed and in the morning...we'll see. I was just happy he could hold it enough to get everything ready himself. Its awesome that Chase is picking up so much from just watching Kieran throughout the day...I get to slack off in the teaching dept! hahaha

So Im pretty sure my youngest just ruined anythong mint for me...forever.
We came home the other night and I few minutes later I found him with my purse and my pack of gum that WAS half full but was empty in his hands. I thought he just ate 10 peices of gum in 2 minutes!!?? then I thought he probably did that earlier today while being neglected so it was too late now...lets hope he doesnt stop himself up.....weeellll he sure didnt.
The next morning he pooped and just as I pulled off the diaper I noticed there were white grains of "sand" and I was like Buddy what the heck is this aaaand then the smell hit. I kid you not it was minty!!! straight up minty with just an after hint of poop. I laughed and gagged then thought I cant ever eat mint again cuz the poop still was there and apparently your gut will just break up whole sticks of gum if not chewed hahahaha

Our third and last baby boy will be here sometime at the begining of April. I will never get my own sugar and spice and everything nice....though international adpotion has always been something Tyler and I wanted to do so perhaps my girl will come in other ways :)

How important promptings are

Before I tell this story you need to know I'm not telling this as a pat on my back or a look what I did, I'm telling this because promptings should be listened to no matter what.

So here its goes,
The other night we were driving home from my SIL house and we were on the freeway. We live outside of Vancouver in whats considered rural farm land so there where no lights along the freeway there. We were in between exits when a flash of white appeared on the shoulder. It was someone walking, in the dark at 930 at night. I instantly felt "call the police" and I turned to Tyler and asked if he saw that and he did and that we should call it in because the reason for the flash of white was it looked like this person was wearing light coloured pyjamas.
What else was strange was that there was no broken down car they were walking way from.
Anyway I hesitated because I don't like calling the police, I always feel like I'm wasting their time with something stupid or feel like a tattle tale.I was really uncomfortable calling. Well again I felt like they really needed to know about this so I called the non-emergency number and gave them the details of where we were and which direction the person was heading. A week before a 22yr old woman who had a reason to be on the shoulder was hit and killed a couple exits down from this one changing a tire and when I was calling the police I just kept thinking of I don't report this and that happens again I will feel horrible for the rest of my life. Done. We got home a while later and a Constable called back and re-confirmed the info and located the person while on the phone with me. I was really hoping it was just some idiot who decided to go for a walk down the freeway (which I think is illegal here anyway)
Fast forward to the next day. I babysit for a friend of mine who is an RCMP(Royal Canadian Mounted Police for my American friends :)) officer and I had told her about this and she informed me that it was a good thing that we called in because this person WAS in pyjamas. She was a 72 yr old woman with dementia who had wandered away from home at 4pm that day from a neighbouring city. We were a ways from that city and she must have been walking all day. Search and rescue was looking for her and when the office found her, her feet were all blistered up.
She could have easily wandering into the roadway not knowing what she was doing or become so exhausted that she collapsed into the ditch and then really would be have in a bad way.
I know others would have seen her and why no one else called in is beyond me. Its not normal to be walking in PJ's on the freeway at 930pm in Novemeber!!??
Anyway again this isn't to pat my own back, its a reminder to listen to the spirit even if its makes you uncomfortable.....it could save someones life.

We had our ward(s) corn roast on Friday and a Hoe down...YEEEEEHAW..I say wards b/c they just split the Chilliwack ward a few weeks prior so we decided to do it all together.
Kieran had fun visiting the cupcake table...over and over...and Chase is a little corn monster, polishing off 3 cobs of corn!!! and then reaching over and eating another RAW cob on the way home!!

Fun diapers the next day let me tell you....I luckly was at work all day and the corn poops fell to daddy.Thats for never getting up at night durning the first year. TAKE THAT!

So tonight while I was giving Chase his bottle before bed the dog was in his cage whining. I was shushing him every few seconds then after the 7th time Chase stopped drinking, pulled the bottle out of his mouth and gave a little "shhhh" I didnt quite believe it and then the dog kept whining and he did it like 6 more times. HAHAHA it was so cute to see a 10 month old baby shushing a 7 month old puppy.

I cant wait to see him not singing in the primary presentation this year cuz we all know that sunbeams just stand there and wave to their parents or stare blankly or pick their noses hahah its gonna be fun

Well to say the least our year has been quite eventful. Our family has had some amazing experiences and we have gone through some major changes. We started our year living in student housing on the Vancouver UBC campus while Tyler was finishing the last few months of his degree in Education. Although it was a huge lifestyle adjustment for us to live in the city, we enjoyed our time in Vancouver and it provided us with opportunities to make new friends and experience new things.
One of our highlights this year was winning a legal settlement against a fairly large international corporation. It all happened because they took a rather large sum of money from us and sold us a faulty vehicle that could not be fixed. The icing on the cake was when they refused to return the money after we returned the Vehicle. This made us mad! We worked hard to make a good case, so good in fact that the company ended up settling with us for more than we were originally asking for in the court documents. We hope we never have to go through anything like that again!
Because of our settlement and the stress that it caused us, Tyler and I decided we would rather not buy another vehicle with our settlement money and we ended up using a portion of it to finance a nice home in the Promontory area of Chilliwack. Our home has been everything we could ever want. It’s neatly tucked away on a mountain far from the busy parts of the city. Our street is very quiet and our place backs onto a small forest with a stream that runs through not far from our yard. We almost didn’t get this house because we had an unexpected interruption before we could clear all the paper work before the purchase deadline.
Chase was born on March 11 just a few days after we put the offer on our home. Chase was born three weeks early and he didn’t give us very much notice of when he was ready to come out that morning. As a result Tyler had to navigate through Vancouver traffic during rush hour and Chase was lucky he wasn’t born on the side of the road! Chase was born very healthy and by 2:30 that afternoon we got bored with the hospital and we got the clear to take him home. Kieran was very cute with Chase, and I don’t think he quite realized at the time that Chase was there to stay. Recently Chase has been a little more engaging and enjoys playing patty-cakes and imitating our sounds. Chase has also been crawling around for the past few weeks and it shouldn’t be much longer until he’s up and walking.
Chase wasn’t the only addition to the family this year. In August we invited a boxer puppy who we named trigger into our family. I don’t think any of us realized what were getting into when it came to getting a boxer dog! (We had a lapse in judgment) Currently he weighs about 45 lbs and he seems a bit on the big side for his age so he could easily get up to 100lbs. Yikes! Aside from the occasional mischief he gets into, he has fit into our family quite well. We have loads of fun with him going on walks, taking him to the dog park, and playing with him around the house. He has done quite well in his training and we think he will develop into a very good friend for our family.
After years of going to school Tyler was lucky enough to have a teaching job lined up at Agassiz Elementary/Secondary School that he started in September. This year he’s teaching Metal Technology courses in grades 7 – 12 and a senior automotive course. At the school he has secured funding and sponsors formed a racing team for the students and they will likely be competing this spring against other schools in the province.
Kieran has done quite well with all the changes that we have this year. He has grown up fast, skipped the terrible twos and went straight to terrible threes! He seems a little more high maintenance this year, but he’s still a really good boy. Right now he‘s very excited about Christmas and excited to see all the Christmas lights and participate in Christmas activities. He keeps reminding us that he wants “train things” just like his papa I guess!
This past week my parents had this misfortune of having their house burn down on December 14th. Tracy, my sister, was the only person who was home at the time and she was lucky to get out of the house. Tracy was taking a nap at the time and the fire alarms did not alert her to the fire. Lucky for her she set a wake-up alarm on her cell phone and it rang just in time to wake her up. She noticed the smoke and was able to escape the house. The stairwell that she had to go up to evacuate the house was extremely damaged and she’s lucky she didn’t fall through the stairwell into the burning fire. As for the house it will likely be repaired but most of the contents of the house were destroyed by the smoke. Were not entirely sure what blessings will result from this misfortune but for now we are grateful that the insurance coverage is sufficient enough to make things right again. The fire was most likely triggered by an electrical malfunction inside the walls. It’s one of those unforeseeable things that couldn’t have been easily prevented. Hopefully this will be a reminder of how precious our loved ones are and perhaps bring us closer over the Christmas season.

My parents big lump of coal for Christmas....the house fire

My parents got an early poopy present of a giant lump of coal that was their house. It burned down yesterday which sucks beyond all reason especially with Christmas around the corner and 2 days after Christmas they have a 2 month trip to Brazil booked.

Chocolate dog update

So Trigger had to go into the vet and the chocolate he ate gave him a fast heart beat. He had to stay over night and get IV fluids to flush the toxins out....stupid vet vet cost us a couple hundred bones...I guess it was stupid us for leaving chocolate out GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

so the dog comes with us everywhere so he can be socialized properly and yesterday we went the dollar store then to some friends. Well who can resist cheap candy bars right? So I got an Oh Henry for later and completely forgot about it in the bag,.this is about 11am....so fast forward to 9pm and we get home and unload everything and I see my candy bar wrappers sans candy. My first thought is Tyler ate it b/c he cant help himself around candy(a whole other post) but then I looked closer and noticed the wrapper what ripped apart and I knew exactly who did it. Trigger had jumped into the front and sniffed out the chocolate and mowed down! Then it all made sense b/c he was having diarrhea all day, gross. Anyhoo today I took him out in the morning and poop poured out of him bum like a faucet was turned on....now you see he's not house trained so this caused a bit of panic in my heart ...my carpet/hardwood+doggy runs=grouchy grouchy Georgia...so he has been crated all day and not happy,we had go to the vet to make sure everything is good b/c he's puking as well, sick
If vet bills for being a punk dog begin this early with him, Im getting pet health insurance, BLEH

Catch up

So I have completely sucked at writing for 2 months so heres catch up. We temporarily lost sanity and got a boxer puppy who peep and poops and gets into everything GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR had I been able to test out a dog...any dog I would have said absolutely not for 10 years. It would be so bad if kids were grown a bit and didnt need constant supervision themselves but whats done is done. He is a fawn colour and we named him Trigger.
The boys have been growing and being cute, Kieran turns 3 in a few days and his vocab and ability to create proper sentances has grow in leaps and bounds seemily overnight. Its weird b/c a few days before his 2nd birthday the same thing happened. Chase is 6 months old in a few days and getting more and more fun,he babbles and can sit up by himself for little bits at a time. He has 2 teeth and they ruined his life when they came in so the rest will be fun fun fun :P Im trying to get him to take a bottle and formula b/c Im mentally and physically ready to stop nursing and that has been the ultimate standoff of who is more stubborn...I think Chase is winning but not for long. I know Im drying up so if he wants to eat and live then bottle it is. He's still as cute as ever with his big ol ear and light blue eyes and we love him. Kieran couldnt get into a preschool b/c they are all full so we will be doing strongstart (province run and parent participation and FREE) so that should be fun for us.

Kieran is officially potty trained and has been for a month...we'll see if there is any regression but so far he's been doing great and that includes one 6 hour road trip to Squamish and back and 2 plane rides! More to come when I finally get my internet back. T minus 30 days.... oh and we have no vandalized rears HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA still dying over that!

Well since I'm near a computer I should take advantage and post something...lets see we moved to a new townhouse and the kids seem to have adjusted just fine. I love the space we have now for storage and our stuff though we have quickly filled this place up and have run out of room!!!!grrrrr oh well the basement isn't finished so until then we'll keep it all down there. Chase is a better baby now that he is over the 2 month hump and I have learned to read his signs. Its like I forgot how to read babies but I know his hungry/wet/tired(most important one...results in the biggest meltdowns if ignored) cries. He's a very picky kid and only have the best days when we stay home and he gets to sleep in his own bed...that gets lonely but having a pleasant baby is worth the solitude I guess. Tyler is almost done school (in July) and already have a full time teaching contract as a auto shop teacher YAY :D Its nice to now that there will be money coming in for sure now so its not so stressful.
I have discovered more of Chilliwack and am really loving it there I don't see myself wanting to move closer to the city ever again. The kidlets and I go biking on the dykes(pics of the trailer w/ newborn sling to come) and walking too with the RS pres. The ward is cool from what I can tell, there are LOTS of young families with kids Kierans age and younger so that is great. No complaints so far :)
Kieran had the first real no foolin punishment of his life today...let me tell you a tale...
so the last couple days its been 35 degrees (or 95+ for you yanks) out and I didn't want to drags the kids to the lake(which is only a ten minute drive but still) so I filled a kiddie pool for Kieran out back. Well he played for some time and I sat on a deck chair and Chase was beside me in a infant reclining seat. Kieran decided the grass was thirsty so he proceeded to fill his bucket with water and pour it onto the grass and the one time he walked to the edge of the patio where the grass was but instead of the grass he turned and dumped the bucket onto Chase.....this is cold straight from the hose water. Needless to say Chase let out the scream of all screams after and very shocked look and Kieran got a swat on the bum that he wont soon forget. Cold wet skin hurts to get swatted. He then got a 2 hour time out in his room with NO TOYS....yup I dragged ever last toy bin out of his room til it was just his bed, pillow and comforter. I went in about every 10 minutes to remind him why he was in there with no toys, I did not want him to forget this lesson and I'm sure it sunk in b/c after an hour I went up to remind him and he had gone to sleep. I woke him up about and hour later and the first thing he said in his sleepy stupor was "have to be nice to Chase"
Yes he is only 2 and a half but what he did was 100% unacceptable and he needed to know it! He knew he did something wrong the instant the water hit Chase, he just didn't know how wrong....I hope now he does. I'm sure this is just the beginning of Chase being hurt by and older brother...I'm sure one time in a few years will result in stitches. We'll cross that bridge when we get there.

K so its been a while since I've posted but that is because we've moved and have no internet til the end of July so there will be another long break between posts.
Anyhoo the other day we went to Nan's house for a visit and Kieran found a binky that we had forgotten there and that was fine whatever. Later that night at home I todl him to go get his binky and backie for bed and he said " Oh no binky is at Nana's"....so I thought ok go with it and I said binky is allllll gone and he proceeded to have a meltdown scream "oh no we have to go back and get it it oh no" and I said nope its all gone Nana threw it away...and he looked and thought for a second and then screamed "OH NO!!!!!!!" anyhoo long story short is that he had a hour and forty minute fit then fell alseep. The next night he wentcamping with my parents and I expected another fit but all he did at bed time was ask for binky and I said all gone and he looked at me and that was it!!?? Its been almost a week and he asks at night still but we just say all gone and thats that.
Today he found another binky at nana's house and I thought all that was gonna be undone but I took it and threw it away and he just skipped along and went back to playing!!!
I very much appreciate how easy a kid he is now that Chase is here b/c everything is hard with that baby!

K so here are the more details and pictures,

So we are trying to buy a townhouse and are in escrow with it so

Original plan : was to stay in Abbotsford to sign offer papers which was Mon the 9th then go home to Vancouver til Sunday the 15th then back to Abbotsford to sign completion papers on the 17th and then back to Van for a midwife appointment on the 18th.

What really happened : we signed papers on Tues the 10th b/c the seller was out of town on the Monday so we went home Tues night. Got home late went to bed, I woke up at 7am feeling somewhat uncomfortable. I gave Tyler a heads up that something may be going down, I went downstairs to time contractions and got through 3 before I couldn't talk through them. Called our midwife Terry Lyn and left a message then called my friend to come get Kieran the called Terry Lyn back she said to call her back when they were 5 minutes apart. They were really far apart at this point so I wasn't even sure if it was the real thing ( and he wasnt due til the 31st). Anyway in the next 10 minutes I had 3 monster contractions and I called again and said I may be dying so she said head to the hospital.

And so we did...me thinking I want an epidural now and so off we went.

When we got there at 8:40am I thought they were gonna say I was like 5-6 cm and there would be plenty of time for drugs well I was 8-9 cm and I freaked out! I begged them to not make me do this without drugs again so Terry Lyn and Sandra (student Midwife)threw me in a wheelchair and ran down the hall and up a floor to get me to a room and get the drugs. Well about maybe 10 minutes after we got there and called the anesthesiologist my water broke and then 14 minutes later Chase was here and it was all over at 9:27am *whew*

It was a valiant effort from my midwives to get me the drugs which I appreciate but the anesthesiologist never showed up >:\

So from active labour to pushing was 1 hour 27 minutes and 14 minutes of "pushing" I say it like that b/c I didn't really push at all which meant no stitches for me YAY.

So we wanted to the leave the hospital 2 hours later but had to stay an extra hour and a half b/c Chases temp wasn't high enough. We got home at around 130-2 pm and that was that.

I had no time to get exhausted and I had no drugs whatsoever no gas no nothing so recovery has be an absolute dream. If its true that each time you have a baby it goes faster by half the time then next one will just be a home birth. I have no problems with one now that I know I will never get that epidural I just don't wanna clean up after ya know?

Anyhoo its 6 days later now and it feels like I never passed a 7lbs 6oz watermelon so I couldn't have asked for an better recovery and Chase is doing fabulous also.

He made his way impatiently into the world on March 11,2009 after only one hour and forty five minutes of labour total (active & pushing) there was no time for any kind of drugs so that sucked!

Binkies battles...why oh why

So for a while now we have wanted Kieran to give up his binky (soother/paci/soo soo etc) and it has been a no go. I dont want his teeth to become crooked from it but he is dearly dearly attatched to his binkybackey(backey being blankey...they are one entity not 2..another battle)

We've tried cold turkey which resulted in a 4 hour long meltdown that ended up with a trip to buy more(we chucked them all)
We've trying tricking him by putting him to bed so tired that when he asked for the binky we would " go find it" and take so long that he would fall alseep before we came back.. NO DICE!
We have tried snipping the end off hoping to slowly getting it down to nothing (worked for his cousin) but he just looks at it in disgust and and throws it and himself into a fit screaming its broken..a never ending fit.
We've come down to having it just for bedtime and its been like that for a month but he still has a hard time parting with it in the morning...funny story as soon as he is out of bed the binky comes out and so now hes begun staying in bed to have it longer. When you ask him if he is ready to get up he'll yell NO and hold his hand over the binky so you cant take it out...little punk.
He still cries for it through out the day also.

UHG!! With a new baby in less than a month we think it will be best to take it away after we find out how he'll react....I dont think this new one will ever have one..we'll see...we'll see >:

So some of you know our battle with Mazda Canada and some dont so Im going to give a bit( or a lot) of a background here:

March 2007 our Audi decided to commit suicide and broke to the tune of $8500 for a new engine!!! We paid $8500 for it so we said balls to that we will do the repair ourselves (the beauty of being married to a mechanics teacher) but we didnt have the time to do it right away and needed a vehicle as Tyler was in school commuting about 100km (62 miles for you yanks:) a day.
So we had savings in the bank and talked and prayed about what to do and we decided that we should get a new vehicle with a warranty to get us through the next 2 years until Tyler is done school. Decision made.

We researched vehicles and decided on a Mazda 5 b/c we really liked the idea of having a 6 seater that we could grown into. We went to the dealership and worked out financing and ended up leasing for 2 years w/ the intend to buy out at the end (* if you own a new car in Canada you cant get student loans but a lease doesnt count, that why we went lease)
We had enough in the bank to prepay the 2 year lease and not have any car payments so we thought we were doing pretty darn good!

We ordered the car which had to be shipped from the factory in Japan (we're picky with options) and from the minute we drove it off the lot we found out it was a lemon >:Z GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
We had the car for 10 month total and 3 of those months it was in the dealership shop as they tried to figure out what was wrong with it. Oh the madness we were grouchy!!! There came a point where Mazda said we cant replicate your problem therefor it doesnt exsist!!!??? aaaaaaand we went to a lawyer. We dropped the car off at the dealership, told them we wanted out of the lease and our money back and if they didnt consent we would go to court.
Obviously they had our money and didnt want to let it go and we filed our court case.
Its been a long 2 years but it came down to that Tyler found a service bulletin describing our defect to a T and we had matching service documents to show when,where,how the defect occurs proving that we werent making anything up.
We had a settlement conf. w/ the courts where the judge asked if there was anything that could be done and we said we will take the same model car just not that engine...ITS DEFECTIVE!!!mazda said they dont swap vehicles for the sake of swapping...I could have punched them.
So off to court it was. After compiling all of our evidence Mazda called us a couple months ago wanting to settle ( a year and a half later) we said no, then they called again and we agreed to hear what they had to say and they offered peanuts so we laughed and said see you in court.
They called AGAIN uping their offer(still not enough) and we came back with our own number that we would be happy with and 4 days before our court date Mazda contacted us and said we will give you what you want!
YAY...the little guy won.
We got more money then we were originally sueing for and no broken car.
That was a huge weight lifted off our shoulders and things are looking up now! Yay Tithing!
So Corporate America can kiss our big toe!

BOO on Valentine's

Ok so this is how I feel about Valentines Day....pfffffffffffffffffffffffff :P

I think its crap. Its always been one of my most hated days and not because noone ever did anything for me but because I think its money grab...its just another hallmark scam to get our money.

1. I hate stuffed animals...for those under the age of 8 they're fine but over that forget it. I hate it more when people save the stuffed animals from high school 10 years ago b/c some misguided zit faced kid thought they were cute enough to spend his allowance on.

2. I hate hearts especially the stuffed ones that come with the stuffed animal. Put those 2 together in hideous shades of red and pink and all you have is landfill.

3. I HATE HATE HATE heart jewelry. Heart jewelry is whats wrong with the world. I abhor it...I hate it so much that just to think about it pisses me off. When I walk by jewelry stores with heart displays I throw up a little in my mouth.

I was given a present of a silver chain & bracelet with a heart on it once....the relationship ended a week later with me giving back the gift.

Saying all that I dont hate people who wear and love heart jewelry, I dont think any less of you, I just hate your ring,necklace,etc.

So I gave it the ol' college try but Kieran isnt catching on to the potty training so its back to diapers for now...I don't mind though I'd rather change diapers then scrub carpets (yeck) so I'm gonna try again in the summer when he'll be almost 3. Hopefully we'll have more success.

so today we had no successful trips to the toilet but only 3 accidents ,he had a diaper for number 2..not ready to clean that up and the head cold is getting worst so I needed a break...luckly he decided thats when he would go. So Im not sure if this was a good day or not..I would love advice as to what to do. I've read a bunch of books but I need real people advice on what works. We have treats and fun hand wash and no fear of flushing I just dont know how to get him to go not on the floor...is it just one of those things that like day 3 a light goes on in his head or what???

Toilet...the final frontier...well no there's still the binky

So today after Kieran bath I let him run around nekked for a minute...just a minute b/c the last time I did that he went into the closet and peed..kinda on purpose so I got mad which I shouldn't have but anyhoo thats what happened. Anyway I went and got a diaper and jammies and we to our room where he was and he had gotten a bowl that was up there an just got a look on his face that I KNEW KNEW KNEW he was getting ready to pee in it....let back up a bit for the past six months or so we have been telling him that you pee in the potty and showed him..yeah that right showed him how a few times and a least 4 times a week sat him on a potty insert on the toilet and said now go pee. K so fast forward to the bowl and his look of "Im gonna pee in that" I said "do you have to go pee in the potty" and he looked up and ran past me to the toilet got the potty insert, put it in and waited for me to lift him on the toilet. He kinda looked down for a second...not knowing quite what to do I think then started to go. He giggled the whole time..I guess when your body does something your not used to its funny? Its better than being turned of by it. Then he jumped off washed his hands and when got a diaper on(it was close bedtime)
So I decided to take the leap into potty training and went and got supplies (underwear, treats, carpet cleaner and fun foamy green hand soap) I fully anticipating accidents as the norm tomorrow but it has to be done sometime right?
Im a bit worried that a new baby will be coming at the end of March and he will regress to diapers...anyone reading this that has any experience with this please do share b/c Im not sure what to think.

With all this snowfall Kieran got to go out and sled for the first time and he just loved it. I thought he may be scared at first but the first run down and he was all laughs and smiles.

Tyler took him up and down the hill about 20 times and then said enough....not b/c of Kieran but he was tired...Kieran was too small to climb up by himself still so needed to be carried each time.

I didnt think he would be so into playing in the snow this year so I got him a jacket but no other snow gear. Right before the snow I found a pair of snow pants that I thought would fit next year on sale so I got them. Well they fit perfect now so theres no hope for next year but at least they are getting used. As for boots he just used his gum boots with extra socks...cant find any in his size this late in the season. Now I know for next year...a full snow outfit is a must!

Hello all,
We hope this letter finds you well. A lot has happened in the last year so let’s start in January. We finally finished renovating the townhouse we bought with Tyler’s parents and were settled in nicely, Kieran had no problems with a new room with was great and Tyler was still commuting to BCIT.
February, March and April were pretty uneventful though we did find out that we had gotten into UBC student housing so that meant another move :p In May and April we got a chance to go to Brazil to see my family, some probably for the last time. We left May 27 and got back June 30. Kieran who we thought would do what a toddler would do and cause havoc on the plane did the exact opposite and slept pretty much the whole way there and back! Hallelujah!! We took a total of 9 flights and Kieran only protested on one and it was only an hour long flight so we couldn’t have asked for more!! We started the trip in Sao Paulo, we took a day trip to Jundiai to see my dad’s side of the fam. Then we flew down to Rio de Janerio had great weather (by the way it was winter in Brazil) It hovered around 28 deg. while we were there. After 4 day there we flew to Iguassu Falls and spent a couple days hiking around the rainforest which was BEAUTIFUL! It was a bit colder there because were really far south at that point but still nice between 20-25 deg. We were swimming in the pool at the resort while people where walking by in turtle necks giving us weird looks haha I wish we had a sign that said “We’re from Canada” After that it was off to the state of Rio Grande du Sul to the city of Porto Alegre and Cachoeirinha where my mom’s family lives. We got to take a side trip to Torres, a beach town where my mom was born and raised in which was neat. It was REALLY cold there, some nights it went down to 3 deg and there is no such thing a central heater or heaters at all there. A few people have ac units that heat but it’s very very few that have them...so we froze! People just live in their winter coats inside their houses...in a fairness it doesn’t last that long maybe a month or so. I still didn’t enjoy seeing my breath when I went to bed INSIDE. Then it was back up to Sao Paulo for another week and then back home. It was an exciting trip but I was glad to be home where we have carpet and heaters J (homes are all tiled there)
2 days after we got home we moved out to UBC, the whole time we were gone we had the townhouse on the market but unfortunately the market turned and it never sold so its rented out now to family. The move out to Vancouver went smoothly but I hate living in the city...I won’t rant about that or this letter would be pages...the complex we’re in is very kid friendly, Kieran and I go to at least one playground a day. You have to have kids to live here so there are toys everywhere and you’re not allowed to drive in the complex so your kids can run around without getting hurt. While here we decided that Kieran should have a brother or sister so we wrote to the stork and placed an order....he’s bring one at the end of March...in the middle of Tyler’s out of town practicum so that should be fun.
In September Kieran had his 2nd birthday and is now talking in sentences and repeating EVERYTHING so we have learned quickly to censor ourselves IE. a car cut me off and I muttered “stupid car” and for the next 15 minutes Kieran yelled stupid car at the top of his lungs laughing...ugh, no potty training yet...there is toilet apprehension...so its diapers for now. He is constantly doing something funny. He just keeps getting cuter and funnier...he’ll be a tough act to follow...no bias whatsoever there ;)

So tonight after walking home from the pool (which was closed so we got no swim grrrrr) we were walking past a group of 3 very much college boys and Kieran (in the stroller in front) yelled out "HI GUYS!" to which they laughed and say hi back. Not sure where he learned that but of all his cousins that was very much a Madison moment. He's more and more like her everyday. Here's how we think it would break down..if it was Madison, she would had said "Hi guys" then go on to say "wanna be my friend?" Celina would have shot firey darts out her eyes with a look of death and Cameron wouldn't have even attempted eye contact hahahaha.
Its funny how Kieran is the most like Madison, they are the furthest apart in age but she's his best little buddy.

Well had the ultrasound and its confirmed by the midwife...another boy. I was hoping for a girl so I could buy all the cute cloths but we'll save a lot of money this way.

The tech is allowed to tell you the gender bedside, only a doc can, but she said she would show us the area and we could see if we could figure it out, I said sure I'll give it a shot...well i couldn't have been clearer if was take by a digital camara inside the womb. Which is good b/c I hate waiting and I would have had to wait til my midwife app the next week.

I think we'll name him...Luigi ;)

Halloween

Kieran went out for his first real tricks or treats...last year we did truck or treat at the church.

He was a monkey and he did so well going to each door and knocking , saying trick-or-treat and thank you! At first he just wanted to eat every piece of candy put in his pumpkin but then soon figured out that he was collecting them. After a while his pumkin got heavy and my mom offered to help him and hold it for a bit...he didnt quite get it at first but when she went totake it he screamed " NO PUMPKIN" and yanked it away hahaha its only cute now.

He had quite a haul for someone who walked negative 2 miles an hour to each house :p

he had to stop and look at EVERY pumpkin and tell us it was a pumpkin....theres a hundreds of units in our complex.

He had fun though and wanted to do it again then next day....I had to explain that now it time to get ready for Christmas WOOT WOOT

53 more days.... :D

13 more days til decorations go up...go ahead make fun but I dont think 1 month is long enough and our Thanksgiving is over

Last night Kieran had his first experience with my first love...the gym..as in artistic gymnastics. He LOVED the air track and trampoline...he jumped for about 2 hours and got sweaty? Are 2 year olds supposed to sweat? anyway he jumped so much that at home after he got a charlie horse in his calf and boy was he grouchy but it soon passed and he was asking to go jump again hehe.

Today Kieran went to White Rock for the first time and walked up and down the beach for about 20 blocks each way without compaint!!! I was impressed that his little legs lasted. He saw a real train for the first time and the conductor waved as he was going by....so many firsts in his 2nd year!We saw 2 dead jelly fish (ew) and a stone carving of a bear that Kieran though was real so when we put him next to it he just kept saying NO NO!!haha poor kid...then he saw totem poles that he thought were monsters so again with the NO NO....I guess the world is kinda big and scary when you 3 feet tall

So we are at Tylers parents house for 2 weeks right now and the computer is downstairs and this morning I was typing a quick email and Kieran came down and said to me "where's bum?" aka "I took my diaper off look!" so I sighed and said "lets go find bum." As we were going up the stairs I noticed his bottom completely smeared with poop and I though "OH CRAP!" (no pun intended) its gonna be all over the walls , couches, carpets, etc.... well THANKFULLY it wasnt it was all contained in his diaper and on his bum. So I decided to save a bunch of wipes and just throw him in the shower and on the way he told me "bum yucky I fick its (Kieran for fixed it) ....

Yay finally I got off my butt and updated..well some new things are that we are 5 months from a new arrival, I think its a girl but we'll find out Nov 6 Kieran turned 2 last month and his development has grow in leaps and bounds. He went from one words sentances to full sentances and trying to put them togethr himself. It turns out pretty funny.."where did the car booloo (blue) go? There they are!" I laugh then think at least he is showing higher brain function hehe

Tyler is 9 months from being DONE school yeehaw. He has a 2 week practicum next week and then a four month one next year so really class time is almost over for him.

Hopefully we can then move back to Abbotsford..I hate living in the city. Annnd thats about it for now, everything new is mostly about Kieanand the funny things he does everyday. He was ina time out and when it was done he came to me and said now Mommy you sit! A bit lippy for being that young eh? Another funny moment was at his birthday therte was a girl named EMily there and she got up to do something and Kieran called after her "HEY YOU" I said "her name is Emily not hey you" and Kieran looked at me and the at her and called "Hey Elmo" and that was her name from now on hehehe she's 9 so she thought it was quite funny.

Anyhoo Ill try not to make my posts a year apart from now on!..Well I cant promise to try but Ill try to try....Naance that was for you ;)

So in the 3 months since I wrote here of course lots has happened mostly with Kieran ever growing and learning. He has moved from "Finding Nemo" to "Cars" always Cars thats is all he wants to play with or watch! What a boy. He is now 18 months olds and has about 150 words and a few phrases. His game he's onto right now is to shove a hotwheels behind your back where your sitting and say "where did it go?" ..more like whered go? then pull it out and yell "there it is!" its funny he also knows 4 shapes ,star, heart, circle and square.He'll say "lets go" when we are leaving and he has one word that sound like a cuss word! hahah he says 'sit" with a lisp so you figure it out ;)

Tyler is almost done BCIT YAAAAAAA then one more year at UBC and he is done done! We are getting ready to go to Brasil for a month in June to see family that we probably wont see ever again( they are elderly) so we are gonna make the most of it. They need to meet Kieran and Tyler and me really...its been almost 20 years since I have been!!

Anyhoo its been grand here in Abbotsford except for some snow a few days ago spring is on the way and I bought a bike and trailer to get my body ready for Brasil. Kieran loves to go on bike rides to. Best 200 bucks I ever spent (bike and trailer) I would highly recommend it for all you moms that want to get out more. We dont have a second car at the moment so it excellent transportion and the trailer turns into a stroller for when we get to our desination.

So hope all who reads this is well and I always have my Facebook account updated too!

Christmas Letter

Well I guess I should start doing this for all those who boycot the facebook so here is my 2007 Christmas letter!

Merry Christmas all!
Another year has gone by and lots of good (and bad) stuff has happened. Most of this letter will be centered around Kieran because he has been the one that has changed the most in the past year JSo I guess I’m starting with the bad…..waaaay back in January Kieran was just a chunky that laid around and spit up a lot and Tyler was starting the second half of his school year so not much was going on and that was ok then come February we bought our Audi A4 and that went well also for a few months then sometime around March-ish it decided to commit suicide and the engine went to the tune of $7500 to have a mechanic fix it :O AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Well we didn’t go that route, we only paid 8 grand in the first place for it so we took all of our savings and bought a brand new Mazda 5 so we could have warranty if something like that were to happen again. Well that car has been in the shop more than we have driven it in the last year so we got a lemon. No worries though just a life hiccup. In the mean time Tyler had a great year in school and finished off with excellent grades and got a summer job counting bugs at e government research centre. He also did some scientific studies there too. We had a nice trip to Salmon Arm where the Bees took over and quite a few family members got stung. I have yet to be stung ever so I got away! Kieran just grew like a little weed and started walking at 10 months and running soon after and hasn’t stopped. He had his first birthday in Sept and had a smash cake and just nibbled at it. His first word was ball followed by car….we must have heard the word ball I kid you not about 100 times an hour! Now he signed quite a few words and has added binky, bum, stuck, go, Nemo, orange, Nana, Papa, and Daddy to his vocab…no mommy yet LHe has also grown a bit of and attitude! I know I won’t have to worry about him standing up for himself. While shopping at my sister-in-law we stopped a the mall playground so the kids could run around for a bit and Kieran decided he was going to dance (not to music just to the DJ in his little head) and he ran into another little one who couldn’t have been more than a few months older than him. Well he got knocked over and while on his back let out a screech that made everyone stop and look at him, the kid just gave him a look and then walked away to the slide. Well Kieran got right up and ran over to the baby and head butted him! Ran right over with his head down and arms behind him like a charging elephant hahahahahahaha the Dad of this kid laughed so hard as did Alana and I. It was so hard to give Kieran a timeout b/c I was laughing so hard. Yes it’s a funny as you are picturing it! So far Tyler is doing well in his 2nd year at school, he just finished his car in a box project. His team had to build a car from scratch, like make the gears and everything and then race it. The news was there and everything and his team won so he gets a nice fat “A” As for me I started a job at Rogers Video which is ok otherwise not much is new. We are flipping a townhouse and are in eth middle of renos right now so we hope that pays off in the end. Oterwise all is well and hope all is well with everyone too!
